Many of you may know that it is not easy to ask for help. It takes something from you: makes you feel inferior in some way. It is not a nice feeling.
However, finances dictated that we needed to ask for help for a new boiler. My husband and I are both disabled, so we qualified for help under the Energy Assistance Scheme. We only wanted a boiler but were given a whole new hearing system. This was installed on 11th and 12th February 2015. These dates are imprinted on my brain.
What happened next was a nightmare: with which I will not bore you.
But I was made angry - very angry - at the complete contempt I was treated with when I attempted to indicate that this job was in NO WAY satisfactory. No complaint I made was taken seriously, and I have been told that my case is now "resolved".
Well, I'm ever so glad that Scottish Gas believe this. I continue to live with this monstrosity which they will do nothing about. This kitchen has three exterior walls! I own the house. I have received no apology.
So, I am taking this to the Law Clinic at Strathclyde University. If anyone knows of someone who has a similar tale to tell, I would be grateful to hear from them. I would like us to take on the big boys, who so lack compassion. But I need numbers: I need evidence: I need those who are willing to fight beside me.
Please help if you know of a similar case.
As a disabled customer, I found that I was not taken seriously, and had no Rights.
Have you ever felt similarly? Can you tell me about it?
