6'6" Paul Begg, 57 from Torphins near Aberdeen and disabled ex-Scots Guard, has been able to access his beloved Scottish countryside again thanks to a spacious and rugged Breeze mobility scooter donated by the UK's oldest Armed Forces charity, SSAFA.

Father of 10-year-old son Mitchell, Paul found his time in the Army thoroughly rewarding and was a drummer in the Corps of Drums band. However he was forced to take early retirement due to knee problems and subsequently his mobility has become severely restricted from other issues. Paul has undergone several major back operations in an attempt to relieve pressure on his spinal cord however he still experiences continual pain. This coupled with difficulties walking, has led to Paul seeking a mobility scooter that would give him independence outdoors. He was also desperate to access his local countryside once more however with restricted mobility, this was simply not possible without a suitable scooter with off-road capabilities.
