At the Mobility Roadshow 2010 Sirus Automotive had the pleasure of meeting Sir Stirling Moss OBE, legendary motor racing driver widely recognised as the greatest all-round British racing driver in the history of motorsport.
He visited our stand and we had the chance to demonstrate our Volkswagen Caddy Drive From Wheelchair Vehicle.
Stirling Moss, who raced from 1948 to 1962, won 212 of the 529 races he entered, including 16 Formula One Grand Prix. He would compete in as many as 62 races in a single year and drove 84 different makes of car over the course of his racing career, including Lotus, Vanwall, Maserati, Jaguar, Ferrari and Porsche. What a great icon to open the Roadshow: many people on the stand also had the chance to meet him and chat about his exciting career.
One of the highlights of the Mobility Roadshow is meeting so many of our existing customers. In particular, I and all of the Sirus team love seeing Dennis and Marion Webb. Dennis has a Renault Kangoo through the Motability Contract Hire Scheme, which he purchased in 2008.
Every single show I have ever been to, they have visited us on the stand, telling us the exciting places they have visited in their Sirus Kangoo. Both Dennis and Marion are wheelchair users, therefore we fitted two fully automated wheelchair locking systems into the vehicle, so they can travel independently together.
Marion and Dennis travel all over the country to the Mobility Roadshow, often making a weekend of it, staying over and coming to the show on several days. Marion actually owned a trike, which can now be seen in Coventry Motor Museum, as hers was the last one to be on the road.
