Steve Tarrant, 53 from Poole, is a disabled motorsport marshal who survived a near-fatal crash at Goodwood and is attempting to drive a TGA mobility scooter, the furthest distance ever in 24 hours during May.
Steve will be beginning his attempt at 6pm on 17th May 2014 at Goodwood Motor Circuit, near Chichester, that was the location of his highly publicised accident back in 2000. Steve lost a leg above the knee and suffered multiple injuries when an F1 racing car collided with him at over 100mph whilst marshaling on the finish line at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Steve managed to miraculously pull through this terrible accident and has since continued to marshal internationally at events such as the Le Mans 24 Hours and Petit Le Mans, Atlanta. In addition to his motorsport commitments, Steve was a medal bearing Games Maker at the Olympics and Paralympics that led to his acceptance of the Big Society Award from David Cameron.
