TGA FAST TRACKS 'HARLEY DAVIDSON' TGA MOBILITY SCOOTER SO AWARD WINNING ARCHITECT WITH MS CAN HOLIDAY WITH FAMILY

Douglas Forrest from Aberdeenshire, is an award winning architect and founder of a leading and established Architectural Practice who lives with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and has regained his independence, thanks to a ‘Harley Davidson’ style Supersport mobility scooter from TGA.

Douglas, 60 and originally from Cheshire, graduated from the Edinburgh College of Art in 1977. After working in Spain and London on both Private and Local Authority projects, he established his Architects Practice in 1981. Both his parents were from Glasgow, which led to the family returning back to Scotland when they retired in 1969. He is currently the co-director of award-winning Acanthus Architects df (AAdf), which is based in Huntly Aberdeenshire. AAdf consists of a core team of 10 talented individuals that embrace a broad spectrum of skill and experience in conservation, regeneration of buildings and new build. They work on large-scale commercial projects such as offices, schools, retail developments and student housing. Individual domestic projects span across Scotland and England and AAdf has close contacts and clients in Denmark and Norway. Current high profile projects include a new distillery for the famous Tullamore DEW Whisky in Ireland and the regeneration of the spectacular 18th century Wardhouse Palladian mansion and estate in Aberdeenshire.

Douglas was diagnosed with MS in 1977, the year he graduated from University and regards himself as lucky to only have experienced difficulties with walking since 2010. Outside of his busy career, Douglas recently organised a holiday with his family in the forest around Loch Lubnaig in the Trossachs National Park, Scotland. However the possibility of Douglas being able to join his family and enjoy the outdoors fully was looking highly unlikely, until Harry Reed representing TGA was able to supply a TGA Supersport mobility scooter at extremely short notice.

Douglas explains: “My family and I live in such a beautiful part of the world however mobility off road in such a rural environment had become more challenging for me. We live on a small estate that surrounds a Dutch Barn I converted which is now easy to access thanks to my off road Supersport. Several Acanthus projects are also underway on a larger 28-acre estate so I need to access the whole site quickly, which was becoming difficult with my MS. Now I have my rugged TGA mobility scooter I can drive with confidence to the construction sites and my recent holiday in the Trossachs was an absolute joy. I was able to spend time with my family on lengthy rambles through the forest and along the loch shores, enjoy seeing the wild flowers and BBQ outside – which only happened thanks to Harry from TGA managing to delivery my Supersport so quickly. I cannot stress enough the amazing difference this Harley Davidson looking machine has already made to my lifestyle and its stability and performance off-road has to be admired.”

The 8mph TGA Supersport is the mobility scooter of choice for many members of the nationwide Disabled Ramblers Association as it has the stability, manoeuvrability and power to handle most off road situations. Designed to reflect the characteristics of a motorcycle, the black and chrome TGA Supersport provides a visual statement which has led to it recently appearing in the latest Robbie Williams and Dizzee Rascal music video ‘Goin’ Crazy’.
