This product is designed to help with the challenges faced by disabled children on planes

Of the 400,000 disabled children under 16 in the UK, few have been able to enjoy air travel due to the perceived limited options for additional support in the chair when travelling on planes. Parents with young disabled children may believe their needs cannot be met and do not consider taking a trip by plane.

The TravelChair is a unique chair that fits into a standard airline seat giving firm, postural support for disabled children whilst they fly. It is suitable for children from 3 – 11 years (depending on their size) and can be booked through certain airlines at no extra cost.

The adjustable headrest, footrest and body harness provide various levels of postural support which can allow even severely disabled children the option to fly.

The TravelChair will be available September 2012 following final trials andEASA authorisation. The original TravelChair is still available through Virgin Atlantic and Monarch.

Now, why is a harness not available for severely disabled adults?

it is positively dangerous coming in to land when someoene does not have the ability to brace himself against the G force. And 3 point harness? Only for stewardesses!

bring on the Access Audit of aircraft, please. Nobody has done it yet to my knowledge....
