The progress made recently in using artificial intelligence (A.I.) for assistive technology has been moving at ground-breaking speed, but these Envision glasses really made me sit up and take notice.

These smart glasses use A.I. to recognise the visual information it sees, then reads it out loud to the user. The Envision glasses have so many amazing features, but some of my favourites are:

Scan text - Turn any text into speech, from handwritten notes through to your favourite book

Video call – You could call a friend while shopping to get a second opinion on a new dress

Scene description – Get detailed scene descriptions when you’re out and about, so that you get a feel for what’s around you.

Facial recognition – Recognise your friends or colleagues in a coffee shop in an instant, once you have them saved in the Envision glasses.
