After much debate and deliberation we are please to bring you our top ten picks of Naidex 2013. Thanks go to our volunteers Alex, Laura, Margie and Vicky for all their hard work to bring you this.

  1. CarePair is an app and website that helps match people who need care with carers. We loved this and we know lots of people visiting the show liked it to. The system suggests carers based on your needs and likes. The service is free and designed by someone who needs care themselves.
  2. OwnFone is a simple to use mobile phone designed for elderly people and those with dementia. The phone arrived pre-programmed with the numbers you need and works straight from the box. It's reasonably priced to!
  3. AbleJourney are a new travel company that provide holidays for people with additional support needs. They specialise in holidays to India and South Africa. Their attention to detail impressed us.
  4. Magic Carpet has to be seen to be believed. A clever system that projects images of a pool filled with fish or leaves to name a few. The water ripples when you touch the image with your foot! I want one!
  5. Safespaces are a custom made safe room system suitable for people with autism, epilepsy or challenging behaviour. The company make both rooms and smaller bed sized safespaces.
  6. Observer 4x4 Wheelchairs are a range of highly robust stair climbing chairs that are highly manoeuvrable. We liked the attention to detail such as the seat that self levels when the chair is climbing an incline.
  7. HEWI manufacture a range of adaptive bathroom solutions. We liked the stylish design and attention to detail. The folding shower seats, matching rails and other equipment wouldn't seem out of place in even the most stylish of bathrooms.
  8. AutoChair have a range of products designed to improve independence when getting in and out of a car and to store your chair or powerchair. The Milford person lift and the Liberty wheelchair carrier impressed us.
  9. YouBike is an exercise bike that helps improve muscle tone and folds flat when not is use. The use of composite materials makes this one lightweight as well as stylish.
  10. Ode is a fragrance release device designed to stimulate the appetite of people with dementia. We liked the simplicity of this one and the stylish design.
