Skoog is a new musical instrument and technology platform for musicians of all ages and abilities. Researchers have created a unique technology to help give disabled people the power to express themselves in music. This new squeezable device is helping children make music, it is a simple, tactile colourful cube that plugs into the USB port on your computer and interfaces with Skoog music's custom software. With this set up users can play, brass, woodwind, strings and percussion sounds all just by interacting with the huggable Skoog.
Skoog is a completely new kind of musical instrument introducing the viola, clari, banjo, flugelhorn, guitar and the drums. The Skoog is more impressive than the violin though (sorry Andrea Amati). It’s not just one instrument, it is lots on instruments in a multi-coloured box of technology. By squeezing, pressing, rolling and tapping you an easily create chords and notes. The strum of a guitar, the smooth swell of a clarinet, even the mischievous dance of a flute and you don’t have to be Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to play it.
Presently huge barriers exist for many disabled individuals, both children and adults that preclude them from playing traditional acoustic instruments. Physical disability can prevent a potential musician from picking up a violin for instance and playing it to any standard. For those unable to play orchestral instruments, the Skoog enables them to experience and play realistic sounds for themselves.

The Skoog is inclusive, and suitable for mainstream, MLD, SLD and PMLD, children with global delay, genetic conditions such as Downs Syndrome, Sensory impairments, physical/medical problems and those with Autism.
Key Benefits of Skoog:
The Skoog makes music accessible for everyone. From musicians who want to experiment, to disabled children who may struggle to play an instrument. And with the Skoog you don’t have to find a piano sized space in your home, it is the size to a digital radio so you can keep it on your desk, or in your cupboard.
