It’s that time of year again. Naidex is soon to be upon once more. Europe’s biggest independent living exhibition is on from the 26th to the 28th of April in the NEC in Birmingham and here’s a sneak preview of some of the innovations I want to take a closer look at.
1. Acticheck- Stand M30 Acticheck have produced an award winning personal monitoring and alert system. Cloud based and designed to be worn 24 hours a day, being waterproof with an extraordinary battery life of a year. The stylish 'fit & forget' wristband links the wearer to their network of family and friends if they squeeze the panic buttons, fail to confirm they don’t want help at a timed wellness check or if the system detects abnormal activity which could be a fall. Details here.
2. Bellman & Symfon AB – Stand C32 Bellman & Symfon AB are designers of technology to benefit people who are deaf or hard of hearing. They have a number of products particularly aimed at parents of small children who cannot hear, including a baby monitor that sends a tactile alert when baby is awake. Details here.
3. Care Dryers – Stand D44 These wall mounted dryers are intended ideally to enable people to dry themselves independently after bathing, affording them some extra dignity. Details here.
4. GennyMobility UK & Eire – Stand K9
Teaming up with Segway, this retailer is coming to Naidex to promote what they call the World's first two wheel self-balancing wheelchair. Definitely worth a look. Details here.
5. Kymco Healthcare UK Ltd – Stand A5 Offering a wide range of mobility vehicles, Kymco’s stand is worth a visit just to get a sense of the range that there is out there. Details here.
6. Winner SG Pte Ltd – Stand C1 Simply put, this company claims to have reinvented the wheelchair and has an award to its name for it. Very little is given away aside from this titillating bit of information. Details here.
7. Monarch Mobility – Stand G19 Already a well-known name in the independent living industry Monarch Mobility are premiering their latest innovations at the show. Noted for being specialists in the trade, they are bound to bring out their A-game at Naidex. Details here.
