I was thinking the other week and would value anyone's opinion. I have a disabled scooter to enable me to go out but I cannot go into shops etc as I would need my zimmer to do this.Has anyone come up with or seen anything that would enable me to attach this to my scooter. Nothing too complicated.

Hi Carole,
Many rear scooter bags like this one (click here) have a couple of stick holders. While I had my scooter I had a bag with stick holders - basically a tube on each side that had a simple webbing strap with one of those "click" fasteners on it ... that I used to hang shopping bags off! You could easily use them to hold a zimmer frame on. You also get a useful bag to carry your shopping or scooter spares etc. Note that I am NOT suggesting you use the stick holders (most zimmer frames have a cross brace that makes them impossible to put in a stick holder. It's the webbing straps (intended to hold the sticks steady) that you want to use.
While I had my scooter I was still able to use sticks or crutches but found that a pair would fit in just one side.
If you don't want a bag, look (eg in B&Q) for some long velcro wire/plant ties. These can be wrapped round and left permanently attached to the scooter .. to carry your zimmer frame wrap the loose end of each tie round the frame and fasten as with any velcro. Problem solved for a couple of Pounds!
Hope this helps
George
No Problem, Ive been using a Scooter for megga years (about 20 of them). While sitting in the scooter lift the zimmer over your head and slide the top end down your back so the top of the zimmer sits between you back and the seat, problem solved for zero pounds!
couple of good ideas there folks, I tend to only go into shops that I can get access to while remaining in my scooter, ok rules out the smaller shops but never had any problems with the big stores,
You do know about the conversion you can achieve for a wheelchair for use outside?

Hi Carole
Sorry to hear that your scooter is disabled, its normally the people who are disabled (Joking apart ).I have been disabled for megga yonks and have used scooters for over 30 years and you learn by expierence
While sitting in the scooter and the zimmer in front of you lift it over your head and slidedown the back of the seat so the top of the zimmer is on the seat. OK it might look a bit silly but just tell anyone who makes a comment its your roll bar! Stu
