I came across a website this week which I thought could be very useful to anyone who wants to brush up on their sign language. It works much like an online dictionary with a very simple and straight forward search function allowing you to look up common words.
The website has currently a little over 21,000 videos demonstrating how to communicate different words using sign language and also some graphics with further details.
This is ideal for anyone who has recently started communicating with someone who is deaf or hard of hearing, or even an experienced user of sign language who might have the odd mind blank.
Whatever the reason, it’s never a bad idea to have a few basic phrases under your belt in the event of wanting to chat with someone who’s only knows this way of communicating.
Sign language changes between varieties of English. Select one of the following links to access either the British Sign Language (BSL) site or the American Sign Language (ASL) site.
