The official Blackwood office opening was last Wednesday and as the photos and footage will show, it was a pretty great party. Some of the highlights included Sally Bowie’s demonstration of the latest products by Touch Bionics. The i-Limb Ultra blew us all away as did the living skin hand. Chair of the Blackwood board Stephen Gallagher gave a brief speech thanking everyone for the hard work that went into setting up our new premises.
A mixture of staff, customers, tenants and other guests mingled and chatted together as we toured our bright and beautiful new office. Champagne and Canapés toured the room freely and there was an unmistakably relaxed party atmosphere.
Stephen’s speech was closely followed by MSP Margaret Burgess who is the Minister for Housing and Welfare. In her brief speech she praised the ongoing work of Blackwood and spoke highly of our new premises, noting particularly the all-round accessibility of the office. She further went on to praise the efforts of “Team Blackwood” consisting of tenants and customers who work closely with staff to scrutinise the work we do and ensure Blackwood’s service is always of the highest quality.
Finally, Margaret Burgess had the honour of cutting the ribbon, assisted by the Bionic Hand which held one end of it as Margaret snipped the middle. Furthermore she is, presumably, the only MSP to date to have shaken hands with a bionic prosthetic hand.

And I'll leave you with these two funny/weird/incredible/creepy photos...
